To what extent can we trust historians and historical records?

There has been a long, complex conflict between South Korea and Japan.

It could be cultural or even political issues that have triggered the polarity between two nations.

In my opinion, it is history that has a key to every problem.

Additionally, there has been an intense controversy over territoriality.

The Korean assert that Dok-do Island belongs to Korea, while the Japanese assert that Takeshima belongs to Japan.

All the students in Korean learn from the textbook that Dok-do is ours.

Students in Japan, on the other hand, learn from the textbook that Takeshima is theirs.

This real life situation got me thinking...

How can there be two totally different sides when we are talking about history?

Is historical evidence reliable?

Can historian be biased?

If history can be modified, then how can we ensure the origin/ root of human beings?

The articles linked below might help you understand the topic better.
